In 1968 entrepreneur Dayasiri Warnakulasooriya started Midaya with 4 employees in a 30 sq foot shack and a wood fired kiln made with hand pressed clay. Dayasiri had undergone 7 years of training in Japan and wanted to start a ceramic plant to export to Japan. His initial capital was 50,000 Rupees.
With tremendous effort and great teamwork, Midaya enjoyed steady growth. Our mission was to concentrate on total quality and customer satisfaction. Currently Midaya has over 500 employees in a 20,000 sq feet factory.
